Baiba Skride plays Sjostakovitsj

Since her 2001 Queen Elisabeth Competition victory, Baiba Skride has remained at the pinnacle of the international violin world. She returns to the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra for Shostakovich’s formidable Violin Concerto No. 2, reuniting with conductor Osmo Vänskä. The programme features Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony, a defiant, optimistic masterpiece composed during the darkest days of WWII.
