Triple concerto with Kanneh-Mason, Gillam and Goldscheider

Ten years after their iconic 2016 BBC Young Musician final, cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, hornist Ben Goldscheider, and saxophonist Jess Gillam reunite. Bound by friendship, they perform a jazzy triple concerto by Gwilym Simcock, co-commissioned by the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, BBC Proms and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. The programme celebrates Welsh connections with Grace Williams’ Sea Sketches , capturing the ocean’s shifting temperaments. Her mentor, Edward Elgar, provides the crowning glory with his Symphony No. 1 . From its stirring themes to the lyrical third movement, this is music of grand gestures and pure enjoyment.
